Principal Message

A Great Week to Be a Rancho Eagle!

It was another great week at Rancho! Our students are settling into their routines, working hard in their classrooms, and continuing to build a strong sense of community and belonging. Thank you to our staff and families for your partnership in making Rancho such a wonderful place for our students.

Picture Day is Coming!
Picture Day is coming up soon! Please keep an eye out for additional information and reminders. We are looking for parent volunteers - see below!

We Need Recess Volunteers!
We would love to have more parent and caregiver volunteers help support our students during recess. Volunteers are an important part of our Rancho community and help us provide additional positive adult presence on the playground. If you are interested, please complete the required volunteer steps and watch for information about recess volunteer training.

Help Us Keep Arrival Safe
We need everyone's help keeping our campus safe during our busy morning arrival.
Please remember:
  • No dogs on campus.
  • Drive slowly and carefully around the school.
  • Please do not get out of your vehicle in the drop-off lane. Students should be ready to exit when you pull forward.
  • Keep moving forward in the drop-off lane and do not hold up traffic.
  • Kindergarten families: Please keep the walkway clear. Students walking to school use this pathway and may otherwise be forced off the pavement and toward the vehicle drop-off lane.
  • If you would like to stay and watch your child before school, please join us for our Morning Walk rather than gathering along the walkway.

Our goal is not simply to keep traffic moving - it is to make sure every child can enter campus safely. A few small adjustments from each of us make a big difference.

Thank you for another wonderful week and for continuing to partner with us to make Rancho a safe, welcoming, and joyful place for all of our Eagles. I have been updating our Family Handbook - link below. The Handbook is printable and updated regularly.

In partnership,
Anna Young
Principal
Parent Volunteer Yard Supervisor

No Dogs Allowed on Campus

Friendly reminder - there are no dogs allowed on campus. Please do not bring a dog for pick up or drop off.

North Bay Security Partnership

Keeping Our Campus Safe

We are fortunate to partner with North Bay Security as part of NUSD’s commitment to school safety. I have worked with North Bay Security in my previous district as well, and I am especially grateful for the strong level of support they provide here in NUSD.

Every day this school year, North Bay Security has walked our Rancho campus and surrounding areas to help ensure our school remains safe and welcoming for students and staff. They have also been an important partner in keeping me informed about activity occurring around our campus so that we can respond proactively when needed.

North Bay Security’s team includes former public safety professionals with experience in local police departments, the California Highway Patrol, and sheriff’s departments. Their team brings extensive experience and training, including strong de-escalation skills and a student-centered approach to school safety.

I am incredibly grateful for our partnership with Bill Welch and the North Bay Security team and for the care and attention they give Rancho each day. Keeping our students safe is always our highest priority, and strong community partnerships like this are an important part of that work.

School Directory

You can find a lot of information on Parent Square, include our school directory. You will find it among other helpful links. Pic attached to indicate the links you can find.

Picture Day!

Picture Day is October 13 and October 14, 2026

We need about 4 volunteers each day to help make sure classes arrive on time, stay in the order they need to be in, and help make sure student hair is combed and they look their best.

If you would like to volunteer either day for any amount of time, please contact Lisa Casey at lcasey@nusd.org.

Picture days run from about 8:45am to noon both days.

Thank you for volunteering!

Drills and Safety

How We Practice Safety at Rancho

A Family Guide to Emergency Drills
At Rancho, we practice emergency procedures throughout the school year so our students and staff know what to do if an emergency occurs. Drills are taught calmly and in age-appropriate ways, with an emphasis on listening to trusted adults, moving safely, and making sure every student is accounted for.

Our procedures are aligned with Novato Unified School District (NUSD) emergency preparedness procedures and California school safety guidance. NUSD also works with North Bay Security Group and local law enforcement to support school safety and emergency response.

The goal of practicing is simple: preparedness, not fear. We want our Rancho Eagles to feel confident that the adults at school have a plan and will help keep them safe.

Morning Walks

Please join your children for morning walk. They can first put their bags hung up in front of their classrooms, or keep them on during the walk. I would like to shift away from the bags on the line, as it is creating some walking hazards. Please encourage walking only. Thank you!
