Due to the heat warnings and preservation of student health and safety,

Marin County Office of Education has deemed tomorrow, Friday, September 1st , a minimum day –

All elementary schools will dismiss students at 12:00 pm tomorrow,

All secondary schools will dismiss students at 12:45.

Per Jim Hogeboom, NUSD Superintendent, this was his message to our school sites:

“This morning I participated in a county-wide conference call with Mary Jane Burke, Superintendent of the Marin County Office of Education, Chris Reilly, Marin County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services, and Dr. Matt Willis, Marin County Public Health Officer, and other County Superintendents.  In consultation with these individuals and based on the information we currently have about the projected high temperatures for Friday, September 1, I have decided to close schools early tomorrow and have a minimum day for all Novato Schools.  This will also include MCOE Special Education programs that are held in Novato.

All sports practices will be cancelled on Friday, and we have moved the Saturday football game times and locations at Novato High and San Marin.  We will be monitoring the weather on Friday to ensure we can still safely have the games on Saturday.”
